In real estate investing, the baby boomers are a force to reckon with in the next approaching decades. They bring a huge buying power into our economy.
Many baby boomers have resources for real estate investing unlike their parents. Many are savvy investors. Baby boomers are fueling the real estate market through their different patterns of real estate investing.
Some are buying a second home for their college sons and daughters instead of paying for room and board or renting an apartment. Some empty nesters are selling their huge homes and buying homes with more amenities for them to enjoy. Some are moving to retired communities in urban cities that are closer to more amenities.
One thing evident about the buying patterns of baby boomers is that they are looking for comfort, luxury, style, accessibility, and security in the homes they are buying. Many are planning their real estate investing very thoughtfully. Many baby boomers who are at the peak of their income earning years are investing in real estate for many reasons.
Low interest rates and the various types of mortgage products available to real estate investors have made real estate investing the natural choice for parking their money.
It is likely to find a baby boomer investing in a beautiful home and use such home for a rental property. The criteria for real estate investing for baby boomers is quite diverse because their tastes and financial goals are very different. There is no set pattern that describes the baby boomer.
Many baby boomers are very comfortable with technology unlike their parents. This factor affects the amenities they require in real estate investing. Many continue to pursue active lifestyles even after retirement. Some may travel a lot. Some may even start a new home business.
This means that many new homes will be designed and built to suit the many different needs of baby boomers. We can anticipate that construction of new homes will continue to increase because a huge portion of the buying public will be active baby boomers for many years.
We can also anticipate an increase in real estate investing in the next few decades because of savvy baby boomers.
In addition to this, the sons and daughters of older baby boomers who will eventually reach the stage of financial eligibility will also fuel real estate investing. Of course we expect their tastes and styles to be different from their baby boomer counterpart.
We are approaching a very exciting time in real estate investing. The baby boomer parents and their children’s generations will keep real estate investing in our real estate market active, diverse, and constantly moving.
